WCRCLEADERS in conversation with Prateek Gattani
What makes a reliable and trustworthy business leader?
Trust begets trust. Your employees know when you place complete faith in them and that builds a relationship of commitment and collaboration. I believe in nurturing relationships through honest and vulnerable conversations. That’s how you model character, reliability and trust in the workplace.
According to me, someone who constantly demonstrates sound judgment, upholds high ethical standards, and has great interpersonal skills is a reliable and trustworthy business leader. A credible business leader should be able to make wise judgments, communicate clearly, and set clear expectations. They ought to have strong integrity and be truthful and open-minded. They should be able to establish enduring bonds with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
How have you re-strategised and adapted to digital transformations globally?
We believe this is a decade of digital collaborations. There is a lot of digital potential and especially after the pandemic, we have seen how digitization can empower businesses. With technology shaping and changing every aspect of our lives, our digital consulting and implementation services help make businesses future – ready.
Apart from this, our internal work structure is transformed through data driven approaches and application of latest technologies and artificial intelligence learning programs.
What are the clear changes that you have made to your journey in the last decade?
We seamlessly transitioned into the digital model over the pandemic and extended our business model to provide cloud based, application based, infrastructure, consultancy and other digital services. We explore and harvest all the amazing possibilities through artificial intelligence, ERP and block chain transformations. Our goal is to engineer new pathways to help our customers stay ahead of the market demands.
Besides this our core business of staffing has also seen revolutionary changes and we now have a team of more than 2000+ in house recruiters to ease the process and facilitate companies all over the world. By becoming a one stop partner for our customers we aim to reduce challenges faced by companies and provide a seamless experience through our Staff Augmentation Lifecycle.
What is the current vision and mission at your current role?
We have always been a ‘service focussed and customer first’ organization and we want to expand this vision to build centers of excellence upholding highest standards of quality, integrity and respect. We aim to make the future work for everyone by offering sustainable employability, promote innovation and empowering workforces globally. We are building a 360 degree ecosystem that works for our customers and helps the society. An ecosystem that promotes safety, security, and human potential. Our focus is to get better, hire better talent and embrace the advancing technology. We aim to provide best problem solving services through constant innovation and bringing great minds together.
How do you draw a balance between target orientation and empathetic and compassionate leadership?
By keeping humanity at the core of all our functions. It’s something that asks a lot of resilience from you. You have to learn the act of balancing. I believe there is strength in empathy. If you build the right support and team around you who sees your vision, you’re definitely up for success. Hold high performance standards but not at the cost of basic mutual respect. After all, we are in the business of human connections.
So it’s essential to respect your team’s efforts while adhering to your principles. Be authentic with your team, sharing accomplishments and failures. Last but not least, make sure your team has the resources it needs to meet the goals you’ve set for them.
What has been your greatest strength and weakness in context of leadership?
In challenging times, removing any type of emotion from it is extremely crucial. Over the years, I’ve learnt to stay level headed and composed and still be able to make quick, thought-out decisions. It allows me to be an effective leader and make decisions based on facts rather than emotion. Emotions can be a source of strength a lot of times too but they have a subtle way of clouding judgements without you even realizing. So being able to channel emotions to the best interests of everyone with a sound focus is one of my greatest strengths as well as weakness while leading.
What has been your driving force or philosophy in life?
Empowering people and bringing out their best is something that drives me. I believe humans have innate potential just waiting to be uncovered. With the right guidance and leadership, people can do wonders. I believe anything is possible if we put our minds to it. I also believe that failure is part of success, and it’s important to learn from our mistakes and keep pushing forward. Our one point focus is to provide excellent solutions through integrity, meaningful communications and long term collaborations. We aim to grow together and make the most of human potential.
How do you plan to drive your business at a global level at your current role?
As the CEO of IDC Technologies, I intend to grow the company’s worldwide operations by increasing our presence in international markets and forming strategic alliances with
organizations that can assist us in entering these markets. We will concentrate on creating cutting-edge solutions that may assist clients in transforming their businesses and satisfying the changing demands of digitalization. By attending industry events, participating in webinars, and holding our events, we will also concentrate on boosting our awareness in the international market. As an organization, we intend to put a lot of effort into fostering long-lasting connections with our clients and business partners while delivering the best services.
Your top leadership goals during tough times?
Effective communication and teamwork become utmost important during trying circumstances. When your team understands exactly what is the goal and the steps towards them, the effort is much more concentrated. Working together rather than competing and demonstrating empathy and understanding is again something that is crucial. It’s through such circumstances that the work environment becomes more strong and values driven.
Your greatest success mantras?
Focus. Work hard and never give up. This has been my driving force right from the time I took over the company. Through all the ups and downs, and the risks we took there was always an attitude of perseverance which helped us achieve what we have on a global level. This attitude is something I have learnt through life in general and I inculcate in my team as well. But through perseverance, maintaining your eyes on the end goal and keeping a clear vision is also important. Hard work is a non negotiable for me. I truly believe if you put in the efforts, you will see the results. It never goes in vain.
How actively have you been personally involved with corporate social responsibilities? What have you felt driving societal responsibilities?
I believe I have a great opportunity to give back to society and work towards the overall upliftment through our solutions. Our vision is to contribute towards the growing Indian economy through our initiative – Talent 2030 which aims to provide job opportunities to the underprivileged via campus drives in tier II cities. We constantly strive to build an environment of growth, harmony and equal opportunities for all.
What’s your vision for the industry and the Indian economy?
The Indian economy has a huge potential on the digital front. We are working towards maximising this by creating jobs as well as empowering businesses and to drive development. I see a future where the industry can embrace the latest technology and be a leader in innovation, creating high-quality products and services that can compete globally. There are massive opportunities for hiring talent from the smaller cities and placing them in dream jobs. I envision a future in which the industry is more open to embracing diversity and inclusion and works towards creating an equitable, just, and sustainable economy.
