Dr. Nagma Abbasi
Dr. Nagma Abbasi, Founder and CEO, NextGen Life Sciences

Years of working in the industry, your contribution reflects versatility and volubility. What has influenced your decision making process at various stages.

My career spans over a decade working with Esteemed Research Institutes and leading Multinational companies in Life Sciences / Biotech industry across various verticals like Product management, customer segmentation, brand management, and strategic marketing have influenced my decision making at various stages of Entrepreneurship.

An accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your career?

Working experience in India’s premium Research Institutes on advance techniques in Biotechnology during my Doctoral and Postdoctoral studies along with Sales and Marketing experience with leading multinational company really helped me to shape up my career in most significant way.

What has been your driving force or philosophy in life?

I always learn from my failures. Doing things differently and thinking out of the box is my
philosophy of life.

Never Give Up.” Staying Positive and Passionate can help us to go through a hard time in life and start again. Never Stop believing and Never Stop fighting.

What are the other philanthropic works you are involved in?

I love to visit orphanages and help them in every possible way I can. I love to celebrate
birthdays with these kids in the orphanage. I donate for their food and studies. I feel happy
to do this and get some level of satisfaction in giving back to society. I’m associated with
some non political organisations who work for the upliftment of society and communities.
During this pandemic we helped healthcare professionals by providing COVID Testing
instruments and testing kits to save lives and I felt really happy to work for a noble cause.

How do you define success and how do you measure up to your own definition?

I measure success in different scales like Conversations with clients, ROI, Conversion
rate, Customer satisfaction along with other parameters like referrals from existing clients,
growth, profit from the revenue, conversion rate, sales target and a lot more of organisation benefit factors.

We are constantly making things better, faster, smarter or less expensive. In other words, we strive to do more with less. Tell me about a recent project or solution to a problem that you have made better, faster, smarter or less expensive?

The NextGen group bridges the gap in understanding the needs and pains of the researchers of the Life Sciences/ biotech industry. It helps scientists gain insight into the recent innovations and technologies, assuring a sound knowledge of the subject matter. At, first, it tries getting an insight into the customer requirements by exchanging ideas, then understands the complete workflow and expects results, which in turn help us to suggest customers the best possible customized solutions.

In your opinion what is the most significant aspect of leadership?

Leadership is a journey, not a destination. We make pathway decisions about the people
we lead, our organisations and ourselves. Every time we make these decisions, it sets us
on a new pathway. Our leadership and career journey only has stopovers. I feel most
significant aspect of leadership is passion, positive attitude and communication skills.

Your perception of an empowered society. How far your industry has/can contribute for the same?

The biotechnology sector has always been tremendously innovative and is on a robust
increase trajectory. The sector, with its huge growth capability, will maintain to play a sizable role as a modern manufacturing hub. The Life sciences sector is one of the major significant sectors in enhancing India’s global profile in addition to contributing to the boom of the economy.

NextGen, being from the healthcare and biotechnology industry, responded to the demands of the pandemic time as well. As COVID19 cases started increasing across the country, the clients started demanding products for Covid Testing kits and instruments. As per ICMR guidelines the gold standard Real Time PCR testing has been recommended for all clients. MyTeam educated people about the Real Time PCR testing kits options available in Indian Market and provided the best solutions to customers. We worked very closely with our associates and partners to make Best quality products available on a highly competitive pricing to customers as a total End to End solution and contributed in the fight against the novel coronavirus.

The prime hospitals in Delhi, NCR, ICMR approved Diagnostic Centres, VTM Manufacturers and Research Institutes who has contributed in COVID Vaccine development are our Prime clients during this Pandemic. We feel proud to serve nation in such difficult time and serve for this noble cause of saving lives.

Dr. Nagma Abbasi

PERSONAL GRID

One thing you wish to change and one thing you wish to retain about your industry?

We are serving science which is a niche segment and our industry working day and night to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. I feel proud to belong this industry. I wish that Indian Govt. should provide more funding in research and diagnostic and more investment should be there from Govt. and Private sectors. We have limited resources in India in this industry.

One thing you have to let go off as an entrepreneur/leader?

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. So I always try to follow this and control my reactions.

Whom do you owe your success to?

My failures and my positive attitude towards life.

Best thing about your job?

An entrepreneur works for the good of people, opens up many employment opportunities and leads to the growth of other sectors. He/she is a person who brings an overall change through innovation for the maximum social good. In this process, he/she accelerates personal, economic as well as human development.

A message from you to all the future entrepreneurs/leaders?

I feel an Entrepreneur is a person responsible for setting up a business or an enterprise. Entrepreneur is one who has the initiative, skill for innovation and who looks for high achievements.”

He or she works for the good of the people, open up many employment opportunities and leads to the growth of other sectors. He/she is a person who brings in overall change through innovation for the maximum social good. In this process, he/she accelerates personal, economic as well as human development. An entrepreneur should have outstanding leadership qualities.

An Entrepreneur should take a risk and should be good in decision making. Also the communication with the team and the public on behalf of the company is must.
