Until we get a universally acclaimed critical hit that happens to be based on a video game, the video game movie will remain a puzzle

Yet again a Hollywood flick has given a tough time to Bollywood flicks. The Movie is directed by Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly and features the voice-overs of Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon and Sean Penn.

This hollywood animation movie has performed better than other Bollywood releases in its 1st weekend. The film collected INR 2.16 crores on its first day. Within 3 days of release now stands with the total collection of INR 9.04 crores. In India, it is performing well in the multiplexes and has a great chance to stay well at the box office in the week days.

Being based on a very popular mobile video game, the Angry Bird Movie, in that sense, has alreadysoared to mostly uncharted skies. With $151 million in 10 days of worldwide play, including a $39m domestic debut and a scorching $29m opening weekend in China, the film has already doubled its $73m budget. Though the Angry Birds Movie lacks the creative vision of Inside Out, and the artistic confidence of the 2014 Lego Movie; still, it is surprisingly effective as a stand-alone feature.

The Angry Birds Movie is already the 16th-biggest grossing video game adaptation of all time in America with $39 million. With a flurry of $39- $42m grosser just above it on the list, it will be in the top-ten by tomorrow.

It’s hard to hide the fact that Angry Birds has been repackaged way past the time when the game was a peak obsession. Still, there’s no denying the movie’s high spirits or its irresistible invitation to shake your sillies out.
