Calling them descendants of a royal family of renowned musicians, would not be wrong to thing to say. Hailing from the famous Kirana Gharana and Punjab Gharana, that has been appreciated for over a hundred years Sajid-Wajid are known for giving some of the best music in B Town.
Their father Ustad Sharafat Khan was one of the most skilled Tabla players while their grandfather known as Ustad Abul Latif also a musician was honored with country’s most prestigious awards called Padma Shri.
Combining an illustrious family background with an intricate learned knowledge of music; Sajid-Wajid’s ability to innovate with music and bring the best of classical and western music together, have made them an unbeatable force in the world of music The two started learning music at a tender age of around 7 or 8 and were trained by known musicians and brothers Ustad Allarakah Khan and Das Babu .Before even working independently as a music director the two had worked with their own father Ustad Sharafat Khan on a album, however, it did not release due to certain reasons.
Having entered an arena of film Industry they started creating waves from the moment they set foot. In the year 1999, he opened up in Deewana with Sonu Nigam, credited with being the biggest selling basic music album in the Indian Music History. They then moved ahead with other movie projects including Hello Brother and gave a number of hits like Hata Saawan Ki Ghata. While his songs from Baaghi include Chupke Se Koi Ayega was among the hits. Some of their popular movies include Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Garv, Tere Naam, Parnter, Wanted, God Tussi Great Ho, Ek Tha Tiger.
Most of their movies include Salman Khan, which gives them a mass appeal and gets people across the country dancing.
The two also were seen as mentors over the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Singing superstar at Zee TV, while the duo were also the brand ambassadors for Radio Noida 107.4 FM, one of the popular FM channel at Delhi NCR. Their other works include composing tracks for TV shows including Big Boss 4 and 6.
