Nepal Engineering College (NEC) was established in 1994 by Nepalese professionals and academicians. It offers technical education in engineering, technology and allied disciplines. NEC has pioneered the establishment of a score of private engineering colleges in Nepal. It serves to meet the need for technical experts who would help accelerate economic growth in Nepal.

NEC offers under-graduate programmes in civil engineering, electronics and communication engineering, computer engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, civil and rural engineering and architecture. Students can pursue post-graduate programmes in construction management, natural resources management, interdisciplinary water resources management and transportation engineering & management.

NEC is constantly engaged in designing, upgrading and standardising the curricula to offer more innovative and applied courses in the established and emerging areas.

NEC operates out of its three campuses in Bhaktapur, Kathmandu and Lalitpur. Its main campus in Bhaktapur sits on 10.69 hectares of land in the cultural heritage site of Changunarayan. Its infrastructure and learning resources equal the best in the country.

The college has linked up with many universities, institutions and organisations for academic exchanges. Ball State University, USA; Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology; NICMAR, India; Ehime University, Japan; Indian Society for Technical Education; Imperial College, London and Kookmin University, South Korea are among its many partners. NEC has earned recognition for its research projects. It won the Mondialogo Engineering Award for its research on earthquake-resistant structures in collaboration with Khowpa Engineering College, University of Tokyo and IIT Bombay.
