The history of INSEAD (Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires) dates back to 1957 when Harvard Professor Georges Doriot set up the first of the institutions in France with help from some of his students. Over the years, this institution has nurtured many prominent world leaders and has been ranked amongst the top business schools in the world. INSEAD derives its strength from its objective of erasing national boundaries amongst its pupils and so it founded a multi-campus model that covers three locations and a number of neighbouring countries, allowing easier and wider access to aspirants. Its Asia campus in Singapore was started with 53 scholars in 2000 and now has more than 500 students from 64 different nationalities.

Research is accorded high importance and it figures prominently in the teaching methodology that involves case studies and simulation games. After assessing the need of the Asian market, it started an innovative Executive Master’s programme in Consulting and Coaching for Change. INSEAD Singapore offers degree programmes in MBA, EMBA, PhD and Masters. Singapore, being a global business centre, already had a large pool of professionals ranging from career starters to members of top management within different industry verticals. That gave INSEAD the right catchment area. Over the years, the campus has expanded exponentially and today it covers 20,000 square meters of space. It has world-class facilities like amphitheatres, auditoriums, full Wi-Fi Internet access, a well-stocked library, restaurant, bar and a fitness centre.

INSEAD has an agreement with Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business and Kellogg School of Management to give access to each other’s catalogue of career opportunities. Each year more than 120 companies visit its campus to hire; some of the companies are BCG, McKinsey & Company, Barclays, UBS and Morgan Stanley. It supports its scholars by giving them an opportunity to study in other well-known institutions of the world by launching innovative yet region-specific programmes like its dual degree EMBA programme with Tsinghua University. INSEAD offers quality education covering many core courses and electives from which a student may select what he or she needs to study. Its MBA programme has been ranked as the 6th best in the world by Financial Times.
