2 security personnel martyred in encounter with Maoists in Sukma – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Two security personnel lost their lives in an encounter with Maoists in Bheji in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma today.

Six other personnel of the Chhattisgarh Police’s Special Task Force, who sustained serious injuries in the operation, were evacuated by air.

One Maoist was killed in the encounter.

The encounter, which started at 11am on Sunday morning, continued for around five hours, and ended in the evening.

Five teams of the 202 CoBRA were also part of the operation.

“Encounter went on for around 5 hours in Sukma’s Bheji. It started at 11am and concluded half an hour ago. Heavy firing took place from both sides. One STF and one DRG soldiers were martyred. Six DRG soldiers have been injured,” ANI quoted DM Awasthi, Special DG, anti-Naxalite operations as saying.
